Love's Strong Shelter by Kevin Mark Smith

Kevin Mark Smith has written a compelling novel dealing with a topic we see in the headlines everyday, spousal abuse. Divorce is an easy answer - but is it what God would want?

About Kevin:  Kevin Mark Smith is an evangelical criminal defense and family law attorney in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated cum laude from Regent University School of Law in 1999 where he served as Issue Planning Editor for the Regent Law Review and clerked with the American Center for Law and Justice. Kevin is a former Assistant District Attorney for Sedgwick County, Kansas, and an Allied attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom. He serves on the Kansas Board of Indigent Defense Services. You can read his writings on the Constitution and home school education in The Old Schoolhouse Magazine,

My Review:  Kevin Mark Smith writes from the heart revealing his passion to keep intact the American Family. Divorce is far too easy and Mr. Smith, a Kansas attorney, layers a captivating multi-tiered story in Love’s Strong Shelter dealing with the subject.

Max and Evelyn’s marriage was on the rocks two weeks after their wedding date. Married young, and without family support, the couple were on a fast tracked road to destruction with Max’s drinking and Evelyn’s desire to keep peace and keep her children safe. Until the final event when Max Jr., now a teenager, intervenes.

Evelyn and the children go to a family shelter and Max plunges himself deeper into drinking and womanizing, but through an interesting turn of events their lives begin to change. There are no coincidences with God and with His strong shelter, Max and Evelyn become the people they were intended to be.

I applaud Mr. Smith for taking a stand for what he believes; it isn’t always easy in the no fault society we have built for ourselves. The book was expertly written and well laid out into thought provoking read.
